We are staying in the Ancillary, which is an apartment complex with people staying in an actual apartment and people like us in a room of four bunk beds.
People are very nice. There is no food for us here at our apartment , but someone has helped us by asking us to eat with them or taking us to the store to get a few items. We have had quite a few peanut butter and jam sandwiches. We must not ever forget to take our malaria pill and so make sure we take it with breakfast.
We have been assigned to an area called HO. It is a bush area about 3 hrs from here. We have been up to it on Saturday and talk about a culture shock ... Believe me it is the real Africa you read about and see in books. I'm still in shock . We will be living in a house that is poor by our standards but by the area it is a palace .

The material store is on the side of the street in a lean-to and you buy it by the yard. I have several dresses ordered by a girl who makes dresses for the others in the mission area. Boy did I bring the wrong kind of clothes. Dad fits in beautifully in his dark pants and white shirt.
We are here at the Ancillary, and the Distribution center (small) is right here next door and the Temple is about 60 feet from us. We have been able to go twice. Once for endowment and once with a group to do sealings.
The Stake house is about 60 ft from the other side of the Temple. People here of it good. Needless to say it will be a a challenge but there are others that have had similar experiences but in Nigeria and they are happy to be here. Keep us in your prayers and we will get back to you when we can. Thought for the day....Hang in there and we will do the same. Love mom and dad...
