March 16, 2008

Be thankful for all you have and where you live. The people here have very little. The teens they are happy and friendly. The school kids of all ages wear the same color of clothes to school, depending which school they go to and what day it is. All blue or yellow and brown or pink dresses . No pants on the girls they wear dresses and the boys wear shorts and, the same color shirt. The youth do not drive cars. They walk everywhere.

There is always people on the streets walking or selling goods. Mostly women and girls carry things on their heads. I've seen a few boys carry things to sale on their heads.

(making coffins and furniture)

There are some cars, Grandpa and I have a car and there are only a few white people . We have seen about three in the whole time we have been here in HO. There are a lot more white ones in Accra.

Lots of old taxis, I mean a lot . They are most of the traffic. A person can take the taxi for about 35 cents around HO. They believe they have to work hard and can't have a car until older. Even the married couples can't afford a car. We are kind of a specticle ( the white missionaries) There are the bigger vans called tro-tros that are a way to bus people to other towns or villages. Time is going slowly for me right now I'm missing all the ball games and Olive Garden etc. for birthdays. But we are in the right place for now. Do good in school so you can have all the opportunities of a good life. You just don't know how blessed you are. Even I didn't know how blessed I was until I came to a third world country that has hardly anything. I don't even see toys for little kids. NO one has a blanket ha ha, it's way too hot. Grandpa and I don't even have one in our house, true fact . It's never cold . Grandpa and I are one of the very few lucky ones that have a air conditioner.
