All is well in Africa, today we had a good experience. Last week one of the members of our Branch, he happens to be the job specialist, took us out to a place about six blocks from our house where a new business is starting up.
It is a fabric tye-dye factory, remember this is africa, so nothing spectacular. Anyway he took us out there to meet the man that is the owner-manager. He is supppose to be LDS but we have yet to verify that. Anyway, he has about 25 employees all staying on the property there. There is a fairly large house area besides the building of the little factory. One of the women there can not walk and her wheel chair was broken. The man in our Branch thought maybe we could do something for her. About two years ago the Church in Salt Lake had a wheel chair project and HO got a lot of wheel chairs for the people. Anyway this ladies wheel chair was not one of them but Charles knew that there were 3 small childrens wheel chairs over in the Branch Library and so we went over and got one for her. She is a small lady of about 30 yrs approx. and we thought she might be able to use it. It was definitely small but she wanted to keep it so we left it there. The wheel on the chair was broken. Charles knew that there were some parts for the wheel chairs over at the Pres. Hotel . We went out to the Factory and got the womens chair that was broken and took it over to the service station and put two new wheels on it for her. We took it back and everyone was so happy for her. The boy young man there ask Elder Sidwell for his name and number. After we got home the young man called and ask us to come back out and teach the group . We went for the Elders Joseph and Riding the the four of us went right out there and there was at least 25 peoplee ready to hear the Gospel. Elder Joseph did most of the teaching but Elder Riding and Elder Sidwell taught also. It was great. You got it, I got to entertain the little children. The one little girl kept touching my white skin and my arms etc. I finally took a picture of them and the little ones just loved to see themselves on the camera. Anyway one and a-half hours later after making a new appointment for Friday at 4:30 after they got off of work to teach them more of the Gospel. We will be able to see who is really interested and see if we can get them to church. Anyway it was so fun to see the missionaries teach all those people. It all had to be interpreted into ewe language. Most of the people could understand English but the older ladies could not. Anyway it was great. We didn't go to District meeting today because the Kpong missionaries said, don't come because of the bridge. I was glad, we went to the market instead and bought our usual carrotts, potatoes, tomatoes, cabbage and today some green beans. Boy did I wash them good in bleach water. The work here is exciting. I told the other three missionaries that you have to get 50 contacts to get one member baptised, according to the church statistic, so don't hold their breath until they are in the water. ha ha Charles' Pres meeting is cancelled until Thurs. and so we are going to watch a movie. Pride and Predujice for the umpteen time. Love you all and hope all is well. Happy Birthday to Conner tomorrow and lots more birthdays coming up this month.
