January 19, 2009

I have tried putting a family letter on the Blog and can't seem to get it there... I don't know why...anyway if you don't hear from us it is usually because of our Internet connection... Don't worry, we are just doing the same old things as before... ha ha... last week we had Kylie here for 5 days and that was fun...We went to the Wli falls, took our lunch and found a place to eat it in an old open church, I mean stick supports with a roof and a few benches and a table... it was by the area of the falls... then we went to the monkeys... the next day we went to the Volta Dam and then to a bead factory, all outside under pavilions, it was nice... all the beads are made of crunched glass and they make little molds the shape they want the beads and the size and then put the crushed glass in and melt them in an oven right there for an hour and when they come out someone else makes a hole in each bead. They then cool and someone else paints them and so on. It is amazing the way they do it....in America, it would all be done by machines in minutes but here it takes a lot of time...but it is how they making their living...they sell the beads all over the world... Kylie gave a fireside for the branch on Monday evening...it was very good and the people all loved her... She is a very happy and talk, talk, talk kind of person and it as good to have her here... She had to sleep on the couch on a pillow that I had made just for her and we had an extra sheet...I think she had a good time...I know we did...We went to the Temple on Thurs... because the Temple will be closed for two weeks and I do have a goal to go at least once a month here while I am on my mission...we are still looking for a piece of property for a new Ho church house, long over due if you ask me... the mission President is our Stake Pres. and will be coming up on Sunday to visit us and we will show him what we have found... Thurs. morning the bug spray man from Accra came up to spray in our house and outside... We have to take everything out of the cupboards etc. and so we did that before we left for the temple... you can not be in the house for at least 2 hours after they spray so it worked out well for us to go at that time...we did come back home on Friday to a mess to put back all things in the cupboards again... I always get sick about the same time every three months when they spray and wonder if it is an allergic reaction to the spray...runny nose, headache and cough... no fun...It is still awfully dirty.... wind blows more and it is always like a film on the sky. Jolene and Joe went to Hawaii for a week, fun huh? and Mike and Dona are going in Feb. there on a cruise...wish we could go again too...Sorry about all the trouble with our house Jill...it just picked now to fall apart. ha ha...We hope everyone is happy and getting along okay, inspite of all the troubles and trials right now... We thank you for the e-mails that are sent. We love to get them.... it's hard to answer all of them back especially if our computer is down... We are having a great experience and appreciate all of you for helping us here...one more suitcase (two already to Stephenie's) and one more coming to Tom and Janalee by a sweet lady in Sandy...We met her at the Ancillary on Friday morning, and she brought it back to America with her today (Monday)...We bought a new suitcase cheap on Sat. and it is almost filled and ready for us to find someone else going that way...We pray for you all collectively and individually too and pray the Lord will get you through your trials... We love you all.
