December 29, 2008

Dear family, How was Christmas for you all? Let us hear from you. We were here at our little home. It was a real quite day for us..... we went to dinner at the Freedom Hotel restaurant..... There was not too many people around ... alot to their home village or travel somewhere..... we had an okay dinner, it was so different from any other year in our life... so far.... It certainly didn't seem like Christmas...... we were just fine with it......... We are on lock down right now as I type... it is Monday p-day, we have been on lock down since yesterday after church. Church consisted of going at 8:00, partaking of the sacrament , a few announcements, a meeting of the messi Our Branch had a Branconaries and the ward mission leader. And then home to stay in until further notice. Yesterday was the re-voting for the Pres. of Ghana. Today and tomorrow will be the results. Hope it goes well this time..... the vote was too close the first time and had to be done over...... President Smith called later in the day on Sunday to see if we were in and if all was well for us up here in HO.... The Meeks, mission couple in Nswan called yesterday to tell us about their adventure of being woke up in the middle of the night because their truck beeper went on and some one was trying to break in to the truck. They had pried the passenger side of the truck up 5 inches before the beeper went off. The men ran away..... there are not a lot policemen around to report things too. But Sis. Meeks said a neighbor lady came over and cast a spell on the men that did it and said in a weeks time they would be struck by lighting and die........can you believe it? Meeks are the same ones that had the snake in their house, they are from Heber and go home in April, he is the same person that had to go home to have cancer removed from his face. They are great people and seem to always have the excitement....... I'm glad it's them not us ha ha......Our branch had a party for the day after Christmas. It was out in the field by the Branch building... They had volley ball , ping pong , checker games and etc. It was suppose to be pot luck , but a few brought almost enough for all. I baked three banana cakes and l00 rolls to take..... Charles had gone and got 5 cases of mineral water(pop). We did not eat there.... we stayed for a while and then went home.....the party went on til evening.........it was a fun day for them all. It was good to finally get to talk with Brenen...... We knew that he was going to be transferred on Christmas Eve so we didn't expect him to call on Christmas day, but by the afternoon of the 26th we called the Paraguay mission home and made a contact through them and they gave us a number to call at l0:00 our time and four o'clock his. It was so good to be able to talk with him....I hope you all had a great day on Christmas.... we were able to talk with Carrie's family and Kathie and Kris..... also Kim got on Skype and we could see a picture of the baby ....... it was good .....we never could get the skype from Stephenie's house........Life is good and we are happy when you are happy..... let us hear from you. Love mom
