June 14, 2008

No e-mail from me last week. Our couples meeting was scheduled for Thurs. so we were going to go down on Wed. night. but Sis Brockbank called on Mon. morning and said come today instead. So we hurriedly got things together and went in the afternoon on Monday.

Brockbanks have only until the 27th and she said they were getting behind and so upped the couples meeting. I didn't have time to e-mail because I usually do it on Monday morning. When we tried to get on the computer in our room at the Ancillary that evening we couldn't get the computer up. So no message last week. But there isn't that much new to tell. Things are kinda routine. We did have a very good time with our couples, we always go out to dinner, I'm not trying to be negitive , but the food is just not very good. We always have a good time with the Mattinsons. They always park their truck and go in the car with us. Thursday was our couples meeting. It was held at the Mission home in the Pres. house which is the back of the mission office. We had a real good discussion, each of us sharing our area news and experiences. The Pres. gave us some direction , but the new Pres. will be coming on the 27, The new Pres. is Smith and was here as a counselor to the Area Pres here. He is very familiar with Africa here and will have his own way of doing things. I had writen a little poem to Bro. and Sis Bockbank and so read it to them and bore my testimoney of how I felt about them and their work here. We have only known them for four months, but I knew we wouldn't be to the zone meeting when the other couples give them their gift from the couples. We are on the other side of the mission and the only couple over here, so their zone meets with them on Tues. and us on Wed. So I put in my two cents that day. After the meeting and Pres. Brockbank had gone on to another meeting Sister Brockbank took some of the ladies in her car and Sister Meeks and the Mattinsons went in our car (Bro. Sidwell and Bro. Mattinson were the only men that wanted to go) but sis Brockbank took us to a place called "The Pitt" just to show us where it was so we could find it when she was gone and also another place where they make baskets and sold all sorts of souvenirs. Of course we can't buy too many things as we have no way to get them home. That took a couple of hours. Then Mattinsons and us went to finally have lunch-dinner. We went to the Chinese place, which is different but we like it best. They always bring hot, hot towels to wash your hands and then again when you finish eating . It was good. After that we went all over the place trying to find "The Great Ebenezer Hotel" That is where Arelia was staying. We were trying to find it before it got dark because it is dirt roads, people and cars etc. It is so hard to discribe it, I wish you all could see the ways it is here. Anyway we finally found it. We got the suitcase to Arelia talked to her and her friend gave her a hug and thanked her many times for bringing the suitcases to us. She is a really nice girl. Thanks again to you all for your effort and all the things you sent to us.
